At first the pounds would melt off, but the weight loss not only slowed down as the diet progressed, but it became more and more difficult to keep the pounds off. Any little digression would mean a huge setback. I would go out to dinner once and gain back the 2 pounds I’d lost that entire week.

On top of it though, my energy levels were a mess. I had to have coffee in the morning just to wake up and get motivated. I would drag at work, especially after lunch. I always needed something to help keep me going, so I’d have a diet soda or more coffee. Soon it seemed, that by the time I got home from work in the evening, I barely had any energy at all. All I wanted to do was flop down on the sofa. Making it to the gym was the last thing I felt like doing.

For years this went on, and as time went by my weight and energy problems got worse and worse. I was still young and immature, so being “healthy” never mattered to me. I just wanted to be “skinny” and “sexy”.

But when I finally realized my energy problems were affecting my job, I knew I needed to do something. I couldn’t afford to lose my job, and I was finally able to admit to myself that my performance was being greatly hindered by my unhealthy condition.

It wasn’t until I began to learn about nutrition from real experts—not celebrities or book authors—during my course of study at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York that I realized what I had been doing wrong all those years.

What I learned about our modern food system not only shocked me, but it helped me see clearer than ever why we are helplessly becoming an increasingly unhealthy and obese society.

I was educated on every single major dietary theory in the world: Ayurveda, Macrobiotics, Raw Food Lifestyles, Weston A. Price theory and even popular diets like the Medetarreanian diet, Adkins, South Beach or the Zone. I know that not every diet fits the nutritional and metabolic needs of every person. There is a billion dollar diet and weight loss industry out there with weight loss “gurus” popping up on every street corner… How can you know who to trust?

  • “Soy products are great for weight loss. They’re lower in calories than meat.”
  • “Soy products are terrible for you! They can cause hormonal imbalances.”
  • “Meat is loaded with fat and calories. A vegetarian diet is the best way to lose weight.”
  • “Meat is necessary for protein. I lost fifty pounds on the Adkins diet eating hamburger everyday!”
  • “Dairy products will make you balloon up, just like a big fat cow.”
  • “Dairy products are great sources for calcium and will keep you feeling fuller, longer.”

So here’s the truth you need to know about why “diets” don’t work:

  1. ) Diets are not designed to teach you how to nourish your body and create a lasting way for you to know what to eat in order to stay well and optimize your health.
  2. ) Diets are “one size fits all” plans–and we all know, not everybody is created equally! For example a 250 lb. six foot tall, male construction worker who engages in tons of physical activity all day will need to eat differently than a 130lb. female secretary who sits behind a desk all day. There is absolutely no “right answer” for everyone. The right answer is: bio-individuality. This means that everyone’s system will be different and our job is to help you find what works best for you.

Trust me on this. I am a graduate from the Institute For Integrative Nutrition in New York. I’ve studied all the major dietary theories with the understanding that everyone’s dietary needs are not created equally.

But first, let me let you in on another little secret…

You’ve failed to permanently lose weight in the past for a much different reason than you think.

It’s not because you lack willpower. It’s not because you’re eating too many calories. It’s not because you’re lazy or somehow “cursed” with bad genetics or metabolism.

The truth of the matter is that we have changed our food more in the past thirty years than we have in the last thirty thousand years, and we no longer need a crystal ball to see what kind of effect these “changes” will have on our health. Here’s a quick list of the problems we’ve created for ourselves:

  • Processed foods, things that come in cans or jars or boxes have been stripped of the very things that nourish our bodies and give us the energy we need to burn stubborn fat: NUTRIENTS!
  • We’ve added TOXIC elements to our food supply with the advent of additives, preservatives, artificial colors, and flavors. Not only are these things NOT supporting our weight loss, they are making our bodies work harder to detoxify us and get them out of our system.
  • We’ve created a whole new category of “NON-FOODS” that are causing us to pack on the pounds. These “non-foods” are commonly used in the production of processed foods and include things like: artery clogging trans-fats, super sugars like high fructose corn syrup and neuro-toxins like aspartame.
  • We’ve introduced a tons of CHEMICALS to our food system that human civilization has never been exposed to before in the form of pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, larvacides just to name a few. The new rule is “Don’t count calories, count chemicals!”

These nutrient-poor but often calorie- and chemical-rich foods will pack on the pounds, drain you of your energy and decrease your vitality!

Unfortunately, some people will still make mistakes in trying to lose weight. Here are the top three mistakes I commonly see that you’ll want to avoid…

Through my experience, I’ve found that these 3 main mistakes are almost exclusively responsible for my clients not achieving the results that they want. Here they are:

We’ve all heard this for years, right? Just burn more calories than you take in and you’re sure to lose weight. Well this is only part of the equation. Simply restricting calories does nothing to strengthen the body, boost your metabolism or give you energy.

It’s not just about counting calories, it’s about flooding your body with the proper nutrients it needs to fire up those cells and get them working for you. If you’re counting calories and staying within a certain “safe” zone, but not eating the right foods, you’re doomed to fail time and time again.

If nutrients are constantly being used up to digest your food, but the food your eating isn’t putting anything back in your reserves, you too will go “bankrupt”. You simply will not have the energy to “fire” your metabolism up and get your body into action.

The answer to this situation is to find things to add to your diet that will satisfy your sweet tooth, but provide your body with the nutrients it needs to function as well. I know this might so crazy to you at first, especially if you’re craving chocolate cake, but one of the best things you can do to get over your sugar cravings is to flood your body with naturally sweet vegetables.

We teach a whole class on ways you can do this, but to get started, we’ve included a great recipe below that is designed to satisfy your sweet tooth, and incorporates two “secret” ingredients that will jump start your metabolism.

Ever hear someone say, “There’s no such thing as a good or bad food. Everything is fine in moderation.” Well I’m here to tell you that nothing could be farther from the truth. There are absolutely, 100%, without question, “bad foods”. Period. What you eat matters and food is either working for you or against you.

Originally, all foods were organic foods, meaning they were grown or prepared without the use of any chemical agents like pesticides, fungicides or larvacides, they were not irradiated, did not contain added hormones or were not exposed to chemical fertilizers. Because of the changes we’ve made, we are not eating the same foods our grandparents ate.

Shortly after WWII, we realized that we had stockpiles of chemicals left over from the war. These same chemicals, that were designed to injure and maim our enemies, were discovered to be useful in injuring pests on our fields.

A new industry was formed to promote the growth of our agriculture industry. Little did we know, these chemicals (many of which were never tested, but instead “grandfathered-in”) would contribute to the toxic load our bodies would be forced to deal with.

Moreover, in this major change to our farming system, we also began to neglect our soil. In doing so, we’ve depleted all the vital nutrients we need to stay healthy. So eating conventional, non-organic foods means your not getting the nutrients you body needs to thrive, and instead are eating polluted meals.

When your body is using it’s resources and energy to push toxins out of your system, it’s not expending it where it should: keeping you slim and energized. We will show you how you can break this vicious cycle and get your body back on track again.

As an example, vegetables such as non-organic lettuce, spinach, celery and red bell peppers are among the MOST polluted vegetables you can get your hands on. In fact they ALL have made the DIRTY DOZEN list.

The Dirty Dozen List is a resource compiled by the Environmental Working Group to educate people on which conventionally grown foods are the most toxic. Along side it are the top twelve “cleanest” items you can purchase that are not specifically organic.

This chart, which can go right in your wallet, can make it a lot easier than having to try to remember each time you’re in the produce section! This is just one example of the many resources we provide when working with our clients, but we what you to be able to get started immediately.

So, you’ve busted your butt at the gym and tried eating like a rabbit, and let’s face it, it made you miserable and didn’t help you reach your goals. Worse yet, you keep telling yourself how terrible it’s going to be when you decide to start again, right? Well, guess what? That’s not the way to get healthy!

Sadly, a lot of people think they have to starve themselves or eat things they hate in order to lose weight. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, starving yourself will have the total opposite effect by forcing your body to believe there’s a famine happening and causing it to STORE fat instead of getting rid of it!

Beyond that, forcing yourself to eat something you don’t like, just to save on calories will NEVER serve you. It is not a sustainable way to eat and live. But I have the answer for you.

We must find different ways to begin making all the foods that are good for us into our new favorites. Most of us have just never experimented before!     Meeting with Eve has literally changed my life. I have been battling thyroid and other autoimmune problems for over 20 years. I was constantly fatigued; 25 pounds overweight and had horrible PMS symptoms. As someone who never cooked, I was spending a lot of money eating out or throwing frozen dinners in the microwave and ruining my health in the process. I was miserable and desperate for help.
